Persuasive Writing Piece

Persuasive Writing Podcast

This week will begin writing our persuasive writing piece. What does the word persuasive mean? To persuade someone means to get them to do something or to agree with you on a certain topic. Your assignment is to select a topic that you wish to persuade someone about. For example you may want to persuade the principal of the school to have more recess time for students. The next step is to come up with 3-4 reasons as to why this would be important. The reasons may include additional time to release the energy you have built up during the day, the second one would to provide the students with time to communicate with other student (working on communication skills), the third reason would be to help students stay fit, and finally by being able to release some energy we are all able to focus our attention in the classroom better.
We will be using the Inspiration program to help us plan out our writing. The directions to complete this is as follows:
  1. Open up the persuasive writing organizer underneath Room 19 Blog
  2. Click save
  3. Click on it and then click open
  4. In the introduction bubble you need to come up with a one to two sentence introduction. Example, I am writing this essay to persuade the principal to provide the students of E.H. Phillips with more recess time throughout the day.
  5. Under state the facts tell how not having recess time during the day is affecting your day to day classroom routine. Example, no time to release my energy or less time to work on communicating with other.
  6. Give the reasons why your argument is possible. Example, such as the extra time spent on class to class movement or possibly using additional recess as something that is a reward for classroom improvement.
  7. Finally, you need to summarize your writing.
  8. Once your done print and save your organizer.
  9. Good Luck and do your best.
